I strongly recommend that any woman who has to see Dr. Al-Shabibi at Kingston’s Gynaecology Clinic Takes a “Guardian” with them to make sure that they are treated with the professional conduct which is expected. If you are having any procedure with this doctor then be prepared for a painful and unsympathetic experience. As a patient, remember that anything you have discussed, either with other Doctors or with Al-Shabibi should be honoured and not challenged as this leads to doubt, insecurity and stress. Do not accept being patronised, hurt unnecessarily or discriminated against.

A consultation with Miss Nawar Al-Shabibi left me in tears. She was rude, demonstrated no empathy and very unhelpful. After waiting 7 months, albeit because of Covid-19 which cannot be helped, the 18 minute telephone consultation was awful. No support was offered and Miss Nawar Al-Shabibi's manner was incredibly patronising. Following a consultation with another member of the gynaecology team thanks to my GP re-referring me, I was referred to a specialist and offered surgery within a month. I was reassured about the safety of the procedure, after it seemed Mis Nawar Al-Shabibi did her utmost to scare me. Months on and reflecting on this consultation I'm still upset about how I was made to feel at a time I was struggling to manage chronic pelvic pain.

Dr Al-Shabibi is fantastic. She came across as highly experienced and careful, which made me feel trust and confidence in her skills. My first operation for fibroid removal was stopped due to blood loss, which I had been forewarned about. My condition was then reviewed and reassessed three months later, and a second operation then performed. I felt due caution and diligence was exercised throughout my treatment. My issues have been resolved through the operations and I am now back to normal, and immensely grateful. Her professionalism combined with sensitivity and warmth make her the doctor I would recommend to anybody with gynaecological issues.

Well this is a follow on review from my first encounter with Dr Al Shabibi. I was nervous about meeting her for my surgery but l should not have worried. Her personality from my last, first appointment to now was completely different. She was friendly looked me in the eye when she spoke to me. I was a bit dumb founded but it put me at rest for my surgery. Even when l was in theater prep stage she put her head round the door and said hello. I will trust her again. Everything went well in surgery. I hope everything continues to get better. I will be seeing her again in a couple of months. Maybe she was having a bad day on the day she saw me. I am happy with her.

I saw Dr Al Shabibi the other day, l waited for an hour for my appointment. When l was at last seen l felt she didn't listen to me at all, she informed me of all the risks that l was under which l knew. I found her very upfront, coming across as lacking empathy. I had notes l had written to remind me what to ask about, she took this off me and folded this paper up and gave it back to me. I think she dose care but comes across as very hard and uncaring. This could be her culture. As l am over weight she made me feel so bad about myself, which isn't me. When l got home l was so shocked l just burst into tears for the rest of the day. I am now booked for an operation with her soon. Advice would be ask your patients if they have any worries about their problems. Not sure she would want to know though! Do l trust her to do her job, yes. If you need a lot of emotional support and empathy not sure she is the Doctor to see. I will update this with another review after my surgery. I think she was telling me all the risks but just in a forceful way. I wait and see how surgery goes. Good luck to other people.
